Nothing tests the meddle of our neighborhood like the urban crime issues we face. As a pedestrian scale neighborhood within easy walking distance of communities with high-crime and low-income statistics, we are challenged by a police department with limited resources.
German Village is just a fraction of a very large precinct. Officers are responsible for responding to calls and addressing needs as far away as Alum Creek and Route 104. Thankfully, we have the opportunity to bridge the gap. Our Neighbors 4 Neighbors initiative is a unique block watch initiative developed for German Village.
By working closely with the officers of the 11th precinct, we have been able to track statistics for the German Village neighborhood, identify trends, and educate residents. The German Village Society lobbies for every available resource; officers on bikes, patrol cars, undercover officers,
and special duty units when called for.
We have an email alert system in place, which you may receive by notifying us of your interest at Neighbors4Neighbors@germanvillage.com
Town Meetings are organized to promote awareness and education for all residents.
A large number of incidents in German Village are crimes of opportunity: join us in working to eliminate the opportunities! Light the exterior of your home, always lock windows and doors -
even while enjoying your backyard on a summer night, and never leave items of value in your car.
